Oh boy. This one’s gonna hurt, I think. I’m a fan of the original, or at least my 13-year-old self was. I don’t feel like there’s any real need to have remade this, but when has that stopped Hollywood before? The previews haven’t been compelling. The reviews have been pretty much bad. I’m thinking I’m going to regret a whole series of life choices while I’m watching this movie.

Expectations: Snow White and the Huntsman
The previews for this apparently grittier take on the Snow White fairy tale were pretty strong. The visuals were attractive and interesting. It’s the first feature film for director Rupert Sanders. It seems like this one could probably kind of go either way and I doubt it’ll be some kind of complex epic but I’m hoping for solid genre fare.
Expectations: Battleship
There are times I question my sanity in choosing to try to review a movie each week. I fear that this is one of those weeks that I will end up regretting choosing to embark on this quest. I can’t imagine why anyone thought they should make a movie about a nostalgic but uninteresting “strategy” (should say “luck-based”) board game. Well someone did, and here we are. The trailers have looked purely awful to me, but reviews so far have been a bit stronger than I would have thought. So, maybe I’m wrong, but I expect this movie will be awful.
